The KE901 enables mode selectable switching, insertion of loops, connection to a measurement device on the far end of line, connection through another exchange or even switching to a second access line. Developed for Communication Services such as ADSL2+ and VDSL2 the device has minimal impact on measurements through 31MHz on the far end. Remote-Controlled switching functions up to a distance of 20km are possible without disturbance to other services in the loop.
After connecting the Remote Unit KE905 at the multiplier or intermediate distribution frame a tone can be sent either to one or two access lines. For access line 1 there are two different tones selectable. If no tone is necessary because the end of line is known, the service can be switched through to the customer. This enables him to use his service as long as possible.
After connecting the controllers on the customer's pair the control key switches off the tone tracing. The remote-commands are sent with 8 keys from the KE910 Control Unit. The signals are modified DTMF-Signals to ensure robust communication. Confirmation of the switching functions is provided by both a tone and a flash from the KE910 Info-LED. If the remote-command fails there will be a pulsed tone.
For active tests like crosstalk, balance, spectrum-analysis etc. the loop can be cleared or switched to another measurement device on the far end. Alternatively there can also be another Telephony / xDSLPort attached. This second local loop can be switched to either access line so it is possible to measure the interference (NEXT).
The KE901 Loop Test Assistant is a perfect tool for one-man testing and troubleshooting on copper subscriber lines. The KE905 Remote Unit can open, short, switch or ground copper pairs under control of the compact KE910 Control Unit. With KE901 there is no assistance required from staff at the CO and driving costs will be reduced.
