The TALKSETs are usually connected at two ends of a live analogue telephone line although there is nothing to stop a third device being connected at some mid point. With the switches all set to the monitor (MON) position the users can listen in to the line without disturbance to any existing use. By selecting the talk (TALK) position for the switch on one TALKSET a technician is able to seize the line and speak to one or more other parties monitoring the line like using a simple intercom or walkie-talkie.
With the addition of an external dialler it is possible to use the Talk Set to conduct simple test calls on an analogue phone system.
The TALKSET consists of a light-weight headset-microphone combination with an analog two-wires telephone switch. Connecting the two testing leads with a live analogue telephone line, it is possible for two technicians to communicate. Two TALKSETS are included in this set!
